During 2011 I worked alongside Lucy Biddle, Katrina Currie and Chloe Bryon to deliver pan-European art project Postcards from Europe.
The project set out to explore themes of place, culture and individual creative practices, and resulted in an exhibition, book, website and series of events.
We invited emerging artists from across Europe to submit artwork responding to the places in which they live and work. The work had to express something interesting and real about their relationship to their environment. The only other limitation was the size - 120mm x 170mm - the size of the average postcard. The result was an exhibition of original work selected from over 100 artists from across Europe. Varying widely in tone and media but united by their format and subject matter, the postcards offer glimpses into the lives and working practices of emerging European artists.
Postcards from Europe was funded by the British Council's Youth in Action Programme, and supported by Wem Town Hall and Noise Festival.
